Viber and SMS reminders: buyers don’t forget to pick up their parcel
Rampo sends Viber reminders with SMS fallback on behalf of your shop — on day 2 of storage and the day before paid storage begins. Only to buyers who still have not collected their cash-on-delivery parcel.
- Viber first, SMS if Viber is not delivered
- Two scheduled reminders, not spam
- Sent under your shop’s name
2 reminders
on day 2 of storage and 1 day before paid storage
Why remind buyers to pick up their parcel
A buyer places a cash-on-delivery order, the parcel arrives at a Nova Poshta branch or parcel locker — and just sits there. Nova Poshta sends an arrival notification, but it is a single, generic message that is easy to miss among dozens of others.
Free storage at a branch lasts 5 days, not counting the delivery day; after that storage becomes paid, and if the recipient refuses, the parcel is automatically returned to the sender. Every uncollected parcel means shipping there, often shipping back, packaging and stock that sits idle for weeks.
An automatic Viber or SMS reminder from the shop is a simple way to win back some of those parcels. How well it works for your shop is shown not by our promises but by a control group.
Reminder schedule: when and to whom
Reminders are tied to the parcel’s storage period, not to a status change.
Parcel arrives at the branch
Twice a day Rampo pulls your shipment statuses from the Nova Poshta API and sees which COD parcels are waiting at a branch or parcel locker.
Day 2 of storage
If the buyer has not collected the parcel yet, they get the first reminder in Viber. If Viber is not delivered, an SMS goes out automatically.
1 day before paid storage
The second and final reminder — only to those who still have not collected. Anyone who has picked up gets nothing more.
Tracking and results
You see delivery statistics for your messages, and during the pilot — the pickup-rate difference between the reminder group and the control group, with a margin of error.
Viber with SMS fallback: why this way
Most buyers in Ukraine use Viber, and a Viber message usually costs less than an SMS. But not everyone has Viber installed or active. So we use hybrid sending: Viber first, and if the message is not delivered — an SMS to the same number.
We send via Ukrainian bulk messaging providers (TurboSMS or eSputnik) that support Viber → SMS fallback and delivery reports.
- One reminder = one channel, no duplicate Viber and SMS
- Deduplication: a buyer never gets the same reminder twice
- Delivery statuses: delivered, read, not delivered
Reminder template examples
Templates are short, polite and sent on behalf of your shop. Variables are filled in automatically: shop name, product, branch, paid storage start date. You can edit the texts in your dashboard. Buyers in Ukraine receive them in Ukrainian; here they are translated for reference.
Viber, day 2 of storage
[Shop]: your order “[product]” is waiting at Nova Poshta branch [branch No.]. Free storage until [date]. If your plans have changed, just let us know.
SMS, day 2 (fallback, short)
[Shop]: your order is waiting at NP [branch No.] until [date]. Thank you!
Viber, 1 day before paid storage
[Shop]: free storage of your order “[product]” at branch [branch No.] ends tomorrow. Please pick it up in time — we look forward to your feedback!
More on writing such messages and what to say on a call — in the article how to remind a buyer to pick up a parcel.
The sender is your shop’s name
Buyers should see that the message comes from the shop they bought from, not an unknown number. So for reminders an SMS alpha name and a Viber sender are registered for your shop.
The shop submits the application through the provider; we help prepare it. The alpha name is approved with mobile operators, the Viber sender is a separate application. According to the providers, allow 2–4 weeks for both. An SMS alpha name is up to 11 Latin characters. Sender terms and costs depend on the provider — we clarify them before launch.
- While the sender is being registered, the [call list](page:call-list) with a Viber button works
- Reminders are switched on for a shop only after the sender is approved
- Providers require buyer consent to messages — check your order terms
Honest note on the control group. Reminders go only to buyers outside the control group. During the pilot that is half of buyers (by the last digit of the phone number), after the pilot — 80%. We never message the rest, and you do not pay for their parcels. That is how you see how many parcels were collected because of the reminders. More on the methodology.
Questions about Viber and SMS reminders
How many reminders does a buyer get?
No more than two per parcel: on day 2 of storage and 1 day before paid storage. If the buyer has collected the parcel, no reminders are sent.
Why not SMS right away?
A Viber message usually costs less than an SMS. SMS is sent only when the Viber message is not delivered.
How long does sender registration take?
According to the providers, usually 2–4 weeks for the alpha name and Viber sender together. So it is best to apply on day one and work with the call list meanwhile.
We already send SMS from our CRM. Why add more?
Your SMS keeps running for both groups. We send reminders based on the storage period and show whether they increase the pickup rate on top of what you already do.
Do you guarantee a higher pickup rate?
No. We test the hypothesis in a free pilot with a control group. If there is no effect, we will say so honestly and stop.
How much does the reminders plan cost?
The Auto plan is UAH 4 per shipment outside the control group, minimum UAH 990 per month. Pay-for-results is also available. Details on the pricing page.
